Cloak Clasp Celtic Hounds No. m15015 - Medieval Cloak Clasp
The Celtic hounds were a breed of dogs in Gaelic Ireland described in Irish legend, they may have corresponded to the Greyhound, Scottish Deerhound, Irish Wolfhound, or ancestors of all of these breeds. Celtic hounds can be found in Celtic jewelry designs and paintings as far back as 100 B.C.
Cloak clasp made of antique treated lead-free pewter with a Celtic inspired dog design. Each part of the clasp is approx. 38 mm in diameter and styrdy enough to be used on a heavy cloak or cape.
This clasp is designed and hand cast by James Boyle of The Rams Horn Studio, and it is signed by the artist.
